Fair Play

Fair Play Policy

TurfWar is a competitive game. Competition only means something when everyone plays by the same rules.

What Is Fair Play

Fair play means every territory claim is earned by physically running or walking through that street using a real GPS signal. It means competing with respect for other players and the communities where you run. It means not exploiting technical loopholes to gain an unfair advantage.

Prohibited Behavior

GPS Spoofing: Using any software, app, or device to fake your GPS location. This includes mock location apps, VPNs that alter location data, and modified versions of TurfWar.
Automated Claiming: Using bots, scripts, or automated tools to claim territory without physically being present at a location.
Account Sharing: Sharing your account credentials with other people to claim territory from multiple physical locations simultaneously.
Harassment and Intimidation: Threatening, stalking, or intimidating other players in real life or through in-app messaging. This includes following other runners to prevent them from claiming territory.
Exploiting Bugs: Intentionally exploiting known bugs or glitches to gain territory or XP. If you discover a bug, report it rather than exploit it.
Trespassing: Entering private property, restricted areas, or dangerous locations to claim territory. No territory claim is worth breaking the law or risking your safety.

Enforcement

TurfWar uses automated detection systems to identify GPS spoofing, abnormal movement patterns, and suspicious claiming behavior. Accounts flagged by the system are reviewed by our moderation team.

Violations result in the following consequences, depending on severity and history:

  • First violation: territory reset and formal warning
  • Second violation: temporary account suspension (7–30 days)
  • Third violation or severe breach: permanent ban with no appeal

Banned accounts forfeit all territory, XP, and progress. Bans are not reversed for purchased items or subscriptions.

Reporting Violations

If you suspect another player is cheating, you can report them directly from their public profile or from the activity feed. Reports are anonymous. Providing evidence (screenshots, timestamps) helps our team act faster.

False reports submitted in bad faith to harm other players are themselves a Fair Play violation and may result in account action.

Appeals

If you believe your account was actioned in error, you may submit an appeal within 30 days of the action. Appeals are reviewed within 5 business days. To appeal, email [email protected] with your username and a description of the situation.
